all i remember is waking up to my hair full of leaves

the morning dew coating coating the field green

where did i come from

where did i land

how did i become chained to this world of man.

they see me not as i wish to see them

they don’t see me as a deep connection,

an addition,

a cherished friend.

they see a conquest,

for they are the predator and i am the prey

lamb to slaughter at the end of the day.

even the best of them muzzle their needs

unfortunately the ego is an unruly beast.

hiding behind the commands of simplicity

sitting in the dark

can be told

sit

stay

speak

but

it bleeds

it seeps

it brings the best of them to their knees

i watch them take the best parts of me

mirror my personality

think i am foolish to see

that when i get too smart

take down all i am supposed to be.

they bite

they claw

scratch

and chew

when their power becomes tested

the prey becomes you

in the deep crevices of their mind it is all laid out

you were wild,

a romanticized enigma they

wanted to figure you out.

damned to be controlled

those are

the highest sold

until they go to sink their teeth

to what they thought was a lamb

what they thought was fertile

vulnerable

meat

how they

were

surprised when it was

an unearthly beast.

the enigma

who woke with her hair full of leaves.
